Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager to lead and oversee projects within the marine sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating projects from initiation through completion while ensuring compliance with schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
This role requires a strong project management professional with experience in marine, naval, shipyard, offshore, vessel maintenance, repair, or related industrial environments. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
The successful candidate will be required to live in Quebec for the duration of assigned contract(s). Candidates must also be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance.
Bilingualism (English/French) is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate marine and industrial projects from start to finish.
- Develop project budgets, cost estimates, schedules, and resource plans.
- Monitor project progress against established milestones and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate activities between clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
- Prepare quotations, proposals, change orders, and project reports.
- Review, negotiate, and administer contracts and subcontract agreements.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Manage procurement activities, including materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
- Track project costs and ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets.
- Prepare and present progress reports to clients and senior management.
- Lead project meetings and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to operational excellence.
- Represent the company in client meetings, site visits, and bid opportunities as required.
Required
- Minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience within the marine, naval, shipyard, offshore, vessel maintenance and repair, or related industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, budgets, schedules, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of project planning, contract management, cost control, and risk management.
- Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Project
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Security Clearance.
- Must be willing and able to relocate to and reside in Quebec for the duration of assigned contract(s).
- Bilingual (English/French).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
- Experience supporting Government of Canada, Defence, Naval, Coast Guard, or other federal marine programs.
- Technical background in marine engineering, mechanical trades, fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
- Experience managing vessel refits, maintenance programs, shipbuilding, or marine infrastructure projects.
