DF Barnes Industrial is currently seeking an experienced Journeyperson InstrumentationValve Technician to join our highly skilled team supporting maintenance operations at the Vale Long Harbour site.

This position will be with the newly formed Central Shop team and offers a 7 day on/7 day off schedule.

Reporting to the Central Shop Coordinator, the successful candidate will provide technical support to both Operations and Maintenance teams, specializing in instrumentation, control, and automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. 1. Consistently promote and adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations
   2. Troubleshoot automation equipment and recommend system improvements
   3. Diagnose, repair, and perform routine calibration on a wide range of instrumentation
   4. Troubleshoot and repair control systems and equipment, including generators, robots, crushers, cranes, conveyors, and PLCs
   5. Complete breakdown maintenance, corrective work, and minor repairs
   6. Test, adjust, calibrate, and replace components to meet manufacturer specifications and operational requirements
   7. Provide feedback and continuous improvement recommendations to supervisors and planners
   8. Accurately document calibrations, repairs, and parts usage within the maintenance management system
   9. Support the development of corporate standards related to process control and safety

Qualifications Required:

1. 1. Instrumentation and Control Technician certification or a 3-year Engineering Technology Diploma in a related field
   2. Previous experience working in a repair shop is considered an asset.
   3. Red Seal Certification (Instrumentation & Control) is required
   4. Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, including automation projects
   5. Strong knowledge of process plant control, instrumentation, and automation systems
   6. Hands-on experience with field instruments, calibration, and testing
   7. Experience servicing and rebuilding valves (PSV’s, knife gate, globe, and ball valves)
   8. Familiarity with Rockwell PLCs and DeltaV systems is considered an asset
   9. Flexible and adaptable to varying work scopes and environments
   10. Proficient computer skills
   11. Strong communication and teamwork abilities
