Congratulations to Shannon Nippard, our Q2 Think Different, Build Better Award winner! Shannon’s Lift & Draw Conveyor System offers a safer, more efficient way to feed steel into our fabrication shop saw. Previously, operators loaded steel onto rollers one piece at a time and pushed it manually into position. The new system allows multiple beams to be loaded onto powered rollers, with hydraulics moving the steel through the sorting and feeding process. With an expected 30–40% reduction in handling time, the system will help lower handling costs while reducing physical strain and workers’ exposure to pinch points.
